João Pereira was born in 1987 in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal. He began the triathlon modality in a cross-country race, standing out in athletics still within the scope of school sports. He started participating in Triathlon in 2008 and immediately revealed great ability for the sport. In his experience as a triathlete, he overcome the difficulties in swimming and became a great swimmer too. In 2016, João represented Portugal and secured a 5th place at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. In 2017 Pereira won two gold medals at Düsseldorf ETU Sprint Triathlon European Championships and Kitzbühel ETU Triathlon European Championships. He was Triathlon European Vice-Champion in 2019. He is an athlete with a lot of resilience and focus on training.
