João Silva was born in 1989 in Benedita, Portugal. He started in the swimming segment. He showed his talent as junior triathlete and collected several medals in European and World championships. He was 9th place in London Olympic Games in 2012, and he participated in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. He was European Champion in Duathlon, European Vice-Champion in Triathlon Junior, and European Champion in Triathlon sub-23. He won many medals in Cups and World Championships. He finished the 2019 season with a gold medal at the Weihai World Cup, that took place in China.
