Lisbon, April 08th 2021. In line with its purpose to build a lively and open community, requalifying an area of the city that for decades was abandoned, Prata Riverside Village, a project of the responsibility of VIC Properties S.A. (“VIC Properties“), will be the centrepiece of the World Triathlon Cup, which will take place in Braço de Prata, Marvila, on May 22nd and 23rd.

Anticipating this sports event that will bring together the world’s best triathletes in Lisbon, as well as the main Portuguese triathletes, on May 21st the World Triathlon Mixed Relay will also held a special Olympic Qualification event for Tokyo, a competition that will benefit from the urban requalification of this area, and which will combine the surrounding beauty with the excellent conditions for the practice of Triathlon.

Noteworthy that the sports events on May 21st, 22nd and 23rd have been assessed as low risk’ or ‘very low risk’, considering the requirements demanded by the World Health Organisation and the World Triathlon.

“It is an honour for us to support the Federação de Triatlo de Portugal in the organisation of these events. The values of sport, such as delivery, dedication and effort are also values that we defend and advocate in our daily lives, so this association makes perfect sense,” explained Luís Gamboa, COO of VIC Properties.

Whether for its unique location, building from scratch a “small riverside village” in the natural continuation of the Parque das Nações, crowned by the Jardim Ribeirinho Oriente and a privileged connection with the Tagus River, or for the project itself, the work of one of the most renowned names in world architecture, Renzo Piano, Prata Riverside Village will certainly be an inspiring scenario for the athletes in competition.

This partnership reinforces the commitment of VIC Properties in promoting art, culture and sports, support that has resulted in numerous partnerships established since 2020, both in the signing of a protocol with Plataforma P’la Arte, giving free installations of the Prata Riverside Village to artists who, due to the extreme situation caused by the pandemic, found themselves without work space, or in the implementation of art exhibitions, promoting the unique work of artists such as Valentim Quaresma, Ana Fonseca, Sofia Castro and Cecília Costa, Fernão Cruz, Sara Mealha, Thomas Langley and Sueki.
